Hey guys I’m back! As many of you may know the Sephora VIB sale was going on this past week. It is extremely unusual for Sephora to be offering discounts storewide; they actually only have two major sales a year, one in the Fall and one in the Spring. So if you are looking to try a new product or splurge on a pricey item you’ve had your eye on for quite some time, the Sephora VIB sale is definitely the time to take the plunge. This time around the store was offering 10% off your entire purchase if you are Sephora card member, and 15% off if you are a VIB and VIB Rouge member. Although I initially wasn’t planning on purchasing something, I went with a friend of mine to Sephora on the last day of the sale, and was introduced to the liquid version of the Shimmering Skin Perfector by Becca Cosmetics. I had previously bought myself the full sized pressed version of the Shimmering Skin Perfecter in Opal and although I loved the way it looked and it gave me that Jlo glow, the product ended up breaking me out and I had to stop using it…whomp whomp. So when I saw the same highlighter but in a liquid version, I was immediately intrigued but also hesitant to purchase because I didn’t know if it would break me out like the pressed version had. Finally on the last day of the sale I caved, and purchased the travel sized version of the liquid Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal, which retails for $19.00 on the Sephora website. The travel size bottle is 0.68 fl oz while the full sized bottle contains 1.7 fl oz. The latter retails for $41.00, and considering I wasn’t sure how I would feel about it, I did not want to spend quite so much.
So without further ado, let’s get into the review!
The Sephora Website describes Opal as a “Golden Pearl” color and I would have to say that that is fairly accurate. I would like to add that compared to the pressed version the liquid version of Opal has a slightly more rosy tone while the pressed version is definitely more on the gold side. However I really like this product and the finish of the liquid version is completely natural and not too intense.
The product overall gives you a really nice glow from within look and it is not too overwhelming. I applied mine first with my fingers and then blended it in with a damp beauty blender. At first it had a wet sort of feeling probably because it is a liquid product, but withing minutes that feeling went away. The liquid version also has not broken me out in the two days I have worn it so I do believe there was some different ingredient in the pressed version that my skin just did not like.
Overall I’d highly recommend this the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector to people who are in the market for a new highlighter and want get that fresh glowing skin look, especially during these next summer months!
I hope this review was helpful. Until next time!
